Why put your website on Google Play
- A home-screen icon. Your site is one tap away instead of a search and a URL.
- Discovery on Google Play. People search the Play Store for apps like yours; a listing puts you in those results.
- Your own launch experience. A branded splash screen instead of a browser bar.
- A way to earn. AdMob banners or a lifetime purchase, set up in the same flow.
How URL to app works
When you choose Enter your website domain on the Source step, the app you build loads your live website. That has a useful side effect: when you update your site, the app shows the new version. You only ship a new build when something about the app itself changes, such as its icon, permissions or monetization.
Netlify, Vercel and custom domains all work. Serve your site over HTTPS; Android blocks plain HTTP traffic by default.
Website to app in five steps
Install HTML to AAB
Get the app from Google Play and start a new project.
Enter your domain
Type your website address, for example
https://yourdomain.com.Brand it
App name, icon and an opening animation with your colors and gradient.
Set it up
Package name, version, Min and Target SDK, and only the permissions you need.
Monetize and build
Add AdMob or a lifetime purchase if you like, then build the app bundle for Google Play.
Before you publish: a quick checklist
- Your site is responsive and comfortable to use on a 360 px wide screen.
- It is served over HTTPS.
- You have a privacy policy URL. Google Play asks every app for one.
- It is your own site, or one you have permission to publish. Google Play does not allow apps that simply wrap someone else’s website.
- You are ready for Play Console’s content rating questionnaire and Data safety form.
Frequently asked questions
Does the app update when I update my website?
Yes. An app built from a domain loads your live site, so content changes appear without a new release. Build a new version only when you change the app itself.
Can I turn any website into an app?
Use a website you own or have permission to publish. Google Play does not allow apps that simply wrap someone else’s site.
What if my site is not online yet?
Upload a single .html file or a .zip of your site instead of a domain. The rest of the steps are the same.
